In 1906 in the city of Trieste, Austrian for those times (after World War I the city departed to Italy) the Alba company which work began with production of the chassis was created. In a year also two options of sets of transmission, mechanisms of management, and also a running gear were designed.
It was supposed that two ALBA 18/24 HP and ALBA 35/40 HP models will be let out, but the first wasn't presented in finished form. The ALBA 35/40 HP model was shown on the Parisian motor show in 1907. It was equipped with the line four-cylinder Astor engine of 6,8 liters which power made 35-40 horsepowers, diameter of the cylinder – 125 mm, and a piston stroke – 140 mm.
The car assembled on a lonzheronny frame also possessed a mechanical four-speed transmission and rather rigid suspension bracket on elliptic springs. Brakes fell on back wheels. This model could gather speed to 97 kilometers per hour.
The ALBA 35/40 HP car possessing an open body wasn't deprived of attention, but during 1907-1908 only 9 ready cars were made. Certainly, such productivity became unprofitable for plant with staff in 150 people (rather large to start the XX century).
And already soon, because of the unprofitability, the firm was closed. Thus, all history of Alba cars totals only two years and the one and only model. Nevertheless, rather successful.1 - 4
