Audi — the German autocompany as a part of Volkswagen Group concern specializing on release of cars under the name of Audi. Headquarters — in Ingolstadt (Germany).

In 1949 production in Ingolstadt was created, but the Auto Union AG concern made only DKW cars. In 1958 "Auto Union AG" passed under control and management of "Daimler Benz", and in 1964 became property of Volkswagen concern. In a year the Audi brand revived. In 1969 Auto Union merged with NSU firm, and the new company received the name NSU Auto Union. Recent changes in the title took place in 1984 when NSU Auto Union renamed into "Audi AG".
Augustus Horkh avoided after the prosecution end of war for cooperation with nazis and died in 1951. The name of the great designer and the world famous brand created by it are inseparably linked among themselves, as rings on an emblem of remarkable Audi cars.

The founder of the company, August Horch was compelled to leave own firm in 1909 because of violations of a trademark, 8 years later after the first car rolled out from a collar of plant in Zwickau, Germany.
