2002 is safe to make the history of automobile sports in Germany, because it was then registered a new trademark called «Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH». The base of the company due to the advent of the project «Apollo», authored by a former employee of the concern «Audi» Roland Gumpert, who in his time successfully led the sports department of the world-famous company.
Gumpert Apollo is a 4.5-meter 2-seat "compartment", equipped with a V-shaped 8-cylinder 650-horsepower engine capacity of 4.2 liters. This engine, first introduced by «Audi», allows the car to reach speeds of 360 km / h, acceleration to "hundreds" of only 3 seconds. The main advantage of the car can be called uniqueness of each instance, related to the fact that the model is made exclusively under the individual order.
Initially, the cost Gumpert Apollo, presented at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show, ranged from US $ 400 000, but the realities of the modern automotive industry forced the company to significantly reduce the price. Today, it is only slightly more than 200 000 euros, making the car affordable for many wealthy individuals.
The main problem of the company is that the popularity of Apollo development today is not as high as desired. Accordingly, the lack of sufficient funds and, in particular, profits, does not give the opportunity to work on new models. However, Roland Gumpert says with confidence that in the near future his company will be developed and presented a completely new concept super car that will go down in the history of the German automotive industry.1 - 6
