In spite of the fact that the primary majority of mass media calls the founder of the Renault company of the French designer and the fan of high speeds Louis Reno who was engaged in serious business at the age of 22 years, actually he acted not independently, and in a duet with the elder brother by the name of Marseille.
The easy and maneuverable car with the engine which power made less than 1 horse forces became the first development of Louis Reno. This car reminded a vehicle more, and it was let out one year prior to foundation of the Renault Freres company ("Reno's Brothers"). This basis became a consequence of success of the "model A" developed by brothers at the beginning of 1899.

At the same time the company put emphasis on quantity, and in 1905 in a year released more than 1000 cars under the name of "Renault".
Next year on the Berlin motor show the first bus developed by brothers auto makers was presented. A time later it was called the best bus of year in France, but for that time the company already actively cooperated with the Russian emperor.
By the most popular cars developed by Renault in the second decade of the past century, 25CV Type BM steel (1910) and "40CV of Type DT" (1910) while the 20th years were marked by great fulfillments and the new records set by cars of the company. So 6-wheeled prototype in 1923 crossed the largest desert in the world – Sahara, and the 40CV model could set a number of world records moreover and won a victory in serious race which took place in Monte-Carlo (Monaco).
By the end of the 20th years of the XX century popularity of the Renault trademark knew no limit. Its production was presented more than in 50 countries of the world, thus the circle of potential buyers every day continued to extend. Huge jump to brothers managed to be made, having presented to consumers absolutely new bus with an open platform which became the most popular commercial car of France of the 30th years. The Zhyuva 4 model of the same times actually won the hearts of fans of a moderate driving, inexpensive Renault "Primaquarte 11CV" became the best choice for the people limited in the budget, and "Vivasport" was actively positioned as the unsurpassed roadster capable to gather huge speed.
World War II became the most real shock therapy for Louis Reno, whose brother tragicly was lost on a crest of success of the 30th years. Practically at once the company carried over the German invaders, but after death of Louis who abandoned the French fans of automotive industry in 1944, "Renault" passed into department of France, having become the state enterprise which it remains and today. In the late forties successfully reconstruction of the plants destroyed during World War II belonging once to Reno's brothers ended. Then in mass production there was a four-door sedan of Renault "4CV" which debuted at the Parisian exhibition in 1947, and was developed two more years before.
Popularity of Renault cars started growing again. But signing of the partner agreement with the Peugeot and Volvo companies in 1966 became the most serious step to return of the lost positions. The whole 70th years passed under the sign of technical re-equipment and global building. For these years the number of the Renault plants which are in the north of France increased several times. And the 80th, in turn, were marked by release of new revolutionary models.
In 1982 Renault "Alliance" was recognized as the car of year in the United States of America, in 1983 developers presented Renault "25" (a prototype of Renault "Safrane"), in 1984 – a minivan of Renault "Espace", 1986 became a debut of incredibly successful Renault "21" which was issued in bodies a sedan and the versatile person, and the unsurpassed hatchback of Renaut "19" appeared two years later also.
The beginning of the 90th years of the last century was designated by release of the revolutionary Clio model which became a trademark symbol for fifteen next years. In 1991 this car won the status of "a car of year". Besides, then development of "Renault" was entitled the truck and the bus of year.
In the same the 90th still the whole mass of absolutely new models which began to symbolize qualitative French automotive industry was presented. Renault "Sport Spider", Renault "Twingo", Renault "Safrane", Renault "Laguna" and Renault "Kangoo" headed the list of the most rating development of the company. And coproduction with an automobile building concert of "Nissan" helped to release the car of the representative class "Avantime" in 1999.
Today the engines made by followers of brothers of Renault are considered as one of the most reliable in the world.
